Your Sacred Valley adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel. Experience the wonders of Chinchero, exploring its ruins and vibrant market (on Sunday). The visit includes a live demonstration of traditional weaving, showcasing the rich cultural heritage.
Then you’ll arrive at the Moray archaeological site. Here, you spend about an hour exploring the fascinating circular terraces. These structures demonstrate the Incas’ advanced agricultural experiments and their understanding of micro-climates. Your guide will share insights into how these terraces contributed to the Inca Empire’s agricultural success.
Next, we head to the Maras salt mines. You’ll have an hour to walk among the stunning salt pans. Learn how the Incas harvested salt from these natural springs and how local families continue this tradition today. The sight of sunlight reflecting off the salt pools offers a spectacular view, perfect for photography enthusiasts.
After a delightful lunch in Urubamba, settle in for a night in the charming town of Ollantaytambo.
Little-visited Pumamarca ruins are the remains of a hillside fortress that once guarded the entrance to the fertile Sacred Valley. Built on a steep slope overlooking the convergence of the Río Patacancha and Yuracmayo rivers, its prime position, away from any tourist crowds, rewards visitors with panoramic views. The trek covers approximately 6km (3.7 mi), which is about two to four hours of hiking.
PUMAMARCA TREK
You will drive approximately 20 minutes from the town of Ollantaytambo, to reach the starting point. Here you will walk along a trail for around 1km, taking around half an hour, through terraced countryside. The hike is uphill, gradually climbing to the Pumamarca ruins. You guide will show you around the ruins, which are comprised of various structures including ceremonial buildings, storage houses and enclosures. It is one of the few places that the Spanish suffered a defeat against the Incas.
From here begin the moderate descent along a different path for approximately 4km (2.5mi), taking around two hours and half, where you will follow ancient aqueducts towards the terraces of Conchapata to finally arrived to Ollantaytambo archeological site, here you will have the time to discover this Inca fortress.
Mid afternoon you will have a train ride from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes, taking about 1.5 hours, offers stunning views of the Urubamba River and the surrounding mountains.
Late afternoon you’ll reach Machu Picchu town and have an overnight.

In Ollantaytambo Train station you will meet our private van and be transferred to your hotel in Cusco.
